St Helena Financial Aid 2023/24 to 2024/25

This bridges the gap between the domestic revenues collected and the costs of delivering public services on the island. This includes bringing in necessary international expertise to provide skills and experience not available on island and maintaining access to the island
Serious Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Programme

To counter serious and organised crime, build the investigative capacity of select partners and close the loopholes in the justice system that hinders the prosecution of cases.
Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRiNG)

SPRiNG is to support a more stable and peaceful Nigeria in which citizens benefit from reduced violence, and increased resilience to the pressures of climate change (Impact). It will do this by supporting, and shifting incentives of, Nigerian stakeholders so they are more willing and able to respond to conflict, security, justice and natural resource management challenges in target areas (Outcome). SPRiNG is 15-20% International Climate Finance (ICF) eligible.
Tackling Serious and Organised Crime in Ghana (SOCG)

This programme will seek to reduce the negative impact that SOC has on Ghana’s development, by improving governance and raising awareness, commitment and capacity to address it within government, civil society and business. In doing so, it will address direct threats to the UK, and support wider UK security objectives.
National Governance Programme

The National Governance Programme aims to support Pakistan’s national level institutional reforms agenda through this programme. The programme will take a whole-of-government approach to addressing coordination deficits between levels of government in Pakistan. This means providing technical assistance to the Prime Minister’s Office to focus political leadership on prioritised policy areas; ensuring decisions are evidence-based and are supported by effective monitoring frameworks and feedback loops, supporting collective problem through support to coordination bodies like the Council of Common Interest, and working on policy issues such as climate change or social protection where there is appetite for coordination and reform.
Building sustainable anti-corruption action in Tanzania (BSAAT)

To reduce the role of corruption as a barrier to poverty reduction in Tanzania by improving the capacity and coordination of the criminal justice system in corruption cases, improving integrity and governance in the private sector, and influencing social change through research and media.
Reducing Insecurity and Violent Extremism in the Northern Territories (Re-INVENT)

To improve safety and security institutions at national level and in 6 counties that provide more effective, accountable and responsive services to a public that is actively engaged in improving safety and security in Kenya.
Security and Justice Programme 2

Security and Justice Programme (SJP) ultimately aims to help to enhance public safety in Nepal and improve people’s trust in a key institution: the police. It will contribute to increased responsiveness of security and justice providers, particularly gender-based violence (GBV) and increased prevention of GBV and wider public safety problems. Understanding and influencing different social and organisational norms will run through the whole programme to address the prevalence of violence against women and girls. The programme also has a particular focus on the organisational development of the Nepal Police, investigation capability, problem-solving community policing and better climate-resilient solar-powered infrastructure for service delivery, notably police women and children service centres (WCSCs).
Somalia Security and Justice Programme II

The Somalia Security and Justice Programme aims to promote more affordable, accountable, able and acceptable policing and justice systems in targeted areas that provide a visible security presence and facilitate the peaceful resolution of disputes with lessons from these informing the development of the federal architecture
Conflict Resolution Department (CRD) Conflict Resolution Programme

The programme primarily funds key mediation organisations delivering against the UK’s negotiation, mediation and peace process ambitions, specifically on bringing about negotiated political settlements that govern and end violence and refocusing peace processes as a central tool for conflict resolution, working with a range of national and international partners.
Security and Stabilisation Programme

This programme will increase UK effectiveness in preventing or reducing conflict through the application of stabilisation and security sector reform (SSR) best practice. This includes developing international expertise on state reconstruction in conflict-affected countries. We will develop and advocate for the UK’s governance and human rights-centred approach on stabilisation, SSR, disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration (DDR), sharing our outputs with the international community for the benefit of those living in conflict-affected countries. We will update the UK Guide to Stabilisation, which provides thought leadership and practical advice for the international community. Our priority countries benefiting from this work will be ODA recipients. The Programme will support our Integrated Review objectives of reducing the frequency and intensity of conflict and instability and minimising opportunities for state and non-state actors to undermine international security.
Corridors for Growth

To increase Tanzania’s infrastructure for trade in three ways (i) Co-financing the Dar Port expansion together with the World Bank and Tanzania Port Authority will double port capacity and enable Tanzania’s entire trade volume to increase by two thirds. (ii) Project preparation funding for six more major regional transport projects are expected to catalyse up to £600m of development finance incorporating climate resilent design. (iii) Launching a new approach to Public-Private Partnerships will improve infrastructure in municipal areas and build capacity for larger PPP’s in the future.The programme is expected to reduce the costs of doing business in Tanzania, contributing to growth, more jobs and lower poverty. The short-term beneficiaries will be users such as traders, logistics providers and public citizens. International business including from the UK will benefit from better access to trade.In the medium to long run employment is expected to increase from indirect effects.
Central Asia Small Projects Programme

This programme will provide the mechanism for embassies to develop small projects to further the aims of the Country Business Plans and develop learning to support wider programming initiatives, with the overall aim of supporting development in the region.
Partnerships for Development

Partnerships for Development (formerly known as GREAT for Partnership) will multiply the UK’s development impact by boosting partnerships between UK’s institutions and their counterparts in the developing world. It will leverage the skills and expertise from a range of UK institutions and supply them initially to DFID partner countries, based on tailored demand. It will initially prioritise the Extractives, Financial Accountability and Anti-Corruption sectors.
UK-Jamaica Violence Prevention Partnership

To assist the Government of Jamaica to manage extreme levels of violence to stem gang violence using the public health model.
Strengthening Africa's Science Granting Councils Phase II

The programme will deepen ongoing work with the African Science granting Councils in the same thematic areas as those covered by the first phase of SGCI research management; monitoring learning and evaluation; knowledge transfer to the private sector; and enhanced networks and partnerships amongst councils and with other science system actors. It will extend focus into two new cross cutting dimensions; research excellence and gender equality and inclusivity. It will strengthen national Science Technology and Innovation systems and contribute to socio economic development in sub Saharan Africa by enhancing more effective and inclusive management of research and innovation by Councils in sub Saharan Africa.
Support to the International Security Sector Advisory Team

To deliver effective security and justice interventions through the International Security Sector Advisory Team by providing guidance to help bilateral donors and multilateral organisations deliver effective and politically-informed security and justice responses based on lessons from the field and the evidence base. Also to improve the co-ordination and technical support between donors and their engagement with multilateral organisations in the security and justice sector.
