Description

This programme supports the development of efficient, resilient and inclusive transport infrastructure in Tanzania, focusing on the central trade corridor to promote trade, economic growth, job creation and poverty reduction. Delivered through a World Bank Trust Fund and a partnership with Railway Children Africa, the programme supports: (i) modernisation and expansion of the Port of Dar es Salaam and strengthening of Tanzania Port Authority operations to increase trade capacity and reduce transport costs; (ii) technical assistance, project preparation and analytical work to improve climate-resilient transport infrastructure planning and develop a pipeline of investment-ready projects capable of leveraging public and private finance; and (iii) strengthening Tanzania's public-private partnership framework and institutional capacity while embedding safeguarding standards for vulnerable transport users.
