Enabling monitoring and evaluation for the Artificial Intelligence for Development program
Project disclaimer
Description
The Artificial Intelligence for Development (AI4D) program is a partnership between IDRC and the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The partnership aims to create an inclusive and responsible AI ecosystem through the scaling of AI innovations and policies that improve the quality of life for all in Africa and beyond. Effective knowledge sharing, which enhances the visibility, relevance and influence of the solutions AI4D will support, is critical to achieving this vision. To support the objectives of the new AI4D partnership with FCDO (2024-2029), this project will fund monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) activities. These activities will focus on cultivating a learning culture that is results-oriented and reflective through ongoing MEL support and program reviews and evaluations; drawing on an integrated framework and robust data and analysis by, for example, developing sustainability and fit-for-use monitoring systems and reporting support for grantees; and supporting the integration the RQ+ framework, an approach for achieving quality research for development, into AI4D programming. All of these activities will support the program’s accountability, learning and adaptive management and ensure it meets its objectives.
