Unlocking the potential of the clean energy-water nexus in Senegal’s Just Energy Transition Partnership
Description
This programme will be delivered by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and strengthen Senegal’s capacity to mobilise private investment for its energy transition by improving project bankability and institutional capability through two main projects. Firstly, to support FONSIS (Senegal’s sovereign wealth fund ) through a feasibility study for 50 solar-powered water-pumping stations in the Northern Senegal, under the Renewable and Efficient Energy Fund (REEF) — a specialised investment vehicle to accelerate renewable energy and energy-efficiency projects in the country. Secondly, the programme will support capacity-building within Senegal’s Ministry of Energy to develop a bankable JETP project in water-energy.
