Colombia Conflict and Security Programme
Description
Insecurity and violence driven by Colombian armed and criminal groups are increasing, fuelling illicit economies, record cocaine production, environmental degradation and human rights abuses, directly impacting the UK (JACS 2024). Conflict also significantly affects women, girls, indigenous and marginalised communities. The UK will support long-term stability by advancing implementation of Colombia’s peace and security agenda. The programme will improve security responses and protect civilians while remain agile to evolving conflict dynamics by strengthening resilience to serious and organised crime (SOC) and advancing the Women and Girls agenda, including women, peace and security. It dovetails with the UK’s deep, longstanding security relationship with Colombia, and mutually reinforces the impact of our direct environmental and SOC programming.
