The UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) helps people to live more independent, healthier lives for longer. Our Official Development Assistance (ODA) funded programmes take this objective beyond the UK to address global health challenges for the benefit of people living in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The ODA administrative budget funds staff salaries, training, travel and other administrative costs to deliver ODA programmes and activities, including IT and accommodation overheads, and legal, advisory and commercial support.

The activities developed for the Global Challenges Research Fund and approved as promoting the overall ODA commitment of HMG, have been delivered by the appropriate BBSRC teams (including the Research and Innovation Funding Delivery Team sitting within the Capability & Innovation Domain). During the delivery stage, the plan set out in the commissioning stage is implemented, subject to any changes required as part of the commissioning process. The responsible teams support our external communications, call documentation, peer review/panel processes, and funding decisions cross a broad range of strategic and responsive funding mechanisms, and have been instrumental for the success of the Global Challenges Research Fund activities.

The Report your official development assistance (RODA) is a bespoke digital service that supports the collection of data and information on the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) activities funded by its international research and innovation funds, financed from the departments Official Development Assistance (ODA) budget. The service provides an effective information management system to support DSIT and its Partner Organisations with robust data to understand and manage fund portfolios, fulfil internal and external reporting obligations and improve the quality of information on how DSIT meets it’s ODA commitments.
