Description

National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR)’s funding to the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) Early Career Grants Scheme supports early career researchers in low and middle income countries (LMICs) to develop their research skills and expertise. This partnership contributes to the NIHR Global Health Research priority to strengthen research capacity in LMICs.

Objectives

1) Enable early career researchers and global health professionals of LMIC nationality to undertake applied health research or fieldwork that directly and primarily benefits people in LMICs 2) Develop and improve the research and management skills of early career LMIC researchers through leading a small independent research project 3) Help early career LMIC researchers to widen their networks within their institutions, countries and potentially globally, and within their field of work 4) Establish a peer cohort of awardees to increase collaboration and networking opportunities 5) Support early career LMIC researchers to progress their careers
