Convening Fund: UK-Kenya-Botswana Renewable Energy Knowledge Exchange
Description
This project is a trilateral initiative between the UK, Botswana and Kenya to share best practice and use innovation to develop renewable energy solutions, principally solar, to increase energy access particularly to marginalised communities. Through both South-South cooperation and with input from UK innovation and expertise the project plans to develop the Botswana solar innovation network to coordinate ideas and piloting of innovative approaches in Botswana including for e.g. solar mini grids. Botswana has one of the highest levels of solar irradiation in the world and has significant unexploited solar energy potential, Kenya is a leader in renewable energy generation and the UK is a global leader in supporting the transition away from fossil fuels and towards net zero.
