Securing global wheat crops for food and nutritional security - in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF)
Description
Working in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on two major co-investments in wheat crop improvement, DFID’s funding will increase the nutritional quality and disease resistance of wheat crops, building the resilience of smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, and contributing to global food security in the face of climate change, and emerging plant disease and pest threats. Securing global wheat crops through wheat breeding includes improving heat tolerance and increasing climate resilience in the crop varieties.
