Description

InfraCo Africa seeks to alleviate poverty by mobilising private sector expertise and financing to develop high-quality infrastructure projects in sub-Saharan Africa. It provides funding and expertise to infrastructure projects, enabling them to grow from an initial concept to a bankable investment opportunity to a viable operating business. InfraCo Africa can work with projects at their earliest stage, providing finance and oversight directly where the project already has an experienced lead developer, or supplementing skillsets by providing on-the-ground project development expertise through its own teams. InfraCo Africa can also provide equity to fund the construction of pioneering projects or for innovative infrastructure businesses that need to scale-up or demonstrate commercial viability to attract further investment. InfraCo Africa's involvement reduces the risks and costs associated with project development, ensures international standards are met, and facilitates private sector investment. In preparing this disclosure, we have included cashflow information on named projects for those projects which were live as at the date of publication only; cashflow information on other projects have been aggregated. Similarly, we have only shown outgoing commitments on projects currently live. For details of older projects, please see our financial statements. For some projects where disbursements took place over multiple years, the disbursements have been shown in 2020 for operational simplicity. Our financial statements are available on our website.

Objectives

InfraCo Africa seeks to alleviate poverty by addressing market failures and mobilising investment into sub-Saharan infrastructure projects. It does this by: • Investing directly into early-stage projects which need the financial commitment and support that InfraCo Africa can bring. • Funding experienced teams to provide project development leadership. • Providing equity to close a financing gap and start construction. • Investing into innovative solutions that need our support to scale-up or to pilot new products or enter new markets.
