Support Institutions and Communities to Build Open and Inclusive Society in Kosovo
Project disclaimer
Description
The overall goal of the project is to contribute towards more inclusive policies and legislation that non-majority communities will benefit from and therefore improve their resilience to the risk of escalating conflict. At the same time, the project is creating linkages between communities, foster cooperation and ultimately contribute towards safe, democratic and developed society for all. To achieve this outcome, IOM will work with the Office for Community Affairs within the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), Office of Strategic Planning, Deputy Prime Minister for Minority Issues and Human Rights and line ministries (Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Ministry for Communities and Returns and others, Ministry of Administration and Local Governance) ensuring that the needs and rights of minorities are taken into consideration into policies and laws, and appropriate budget for their implementation is allocated; while fostering the participation of non-majority communities in advocacy initiatives, and promoting dialogue between communities and/or institutions. IOM will continue to work with academia and educational institutions to enable learning of official languages at the University and pre-University levels and improve the quality of translation by establishing a central translation unit within the OPM.
