Provision of Emergency Shelter, NFI, and WASH Support to Flood-Affected Populations in Pakistan
Project disclaimer
Description
Pakistan is considered the eighth most vulnerable country in the world to climate change and is prone to multiple disasters including floods and earthquakes, which are major recurrent disasters that have in the past caused huge losses to life and property and borne a huge socio-economic cost. Pakistan has endured severe monsoon weather since mid-June 2022, which saw area-weighted rainfall above normal levels. Rainfall in the country is equivalent to 2.7 times the national 30-year average. This has caused widespread flooding and landslides, with severe repercussions on human lives, property, agriculture, and infrastructures. The main purpose of the project is to contribute to the delivery of lifesaving assistance for people affected by floods while setting the foundations for early recovery and durable solutions through the provision of safe shelters and essential non-food items including sectoral coordination; increased access to clean water, sanitation, hygiene and other basic services; and provision to stakeholders with increased access to information on needs and displacement disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation measures.
