Description

This Country Programme Outcome (CPO) takes an integrated approach to advancing Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (FPRW), including the newly recognized right to a safe and healthy working environment. It addresses child labour, forced labour, discrimination, and freedom of association in a holistic manner, recognizing their interconnected nature with programmatic interventions in select sectors, including through promotion of sectoral approaches, social dialogue, and adoption of code of practise as well as sectoral standards. The strategy emphasizes policy improvements, workers' empowerment, and social dialogue while prioritizing rural and informal economies, supply chains, crisis situations, and climate change. Key interventions include data-driven gap analysis, policy recommendations, and scalable models for rights-based solutions. Partnerships with governments, employers, workers, UN agencies, and civil society will be strengthened, alongside global alliances like Alliance 8.7. The CPO also supports the ratification and implementation of core ILO conventions, including those on freedom of association, occupational safety, and forced labour. Drawing from ongoing initiatives such as supply chain projects and regional child labour programmes, it aims to create systemic change for decent work and social justice in supply chains. Gender equality in workplace, especially prevention of GBV and sexual harassment is integral to the programme strategy.
