CLARE learning and engagement on gender equality and inclusion
Project disclaimer
Description
The Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CLARE) program is a partnership between the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and IDRC. It aims to enable socially inclusive and sustainable action to build resilience to climate change by supporting governments, communities and the private sector to drive long-term solutions while strengthening capacity of both those carrying out the research and those using the resulting evidence. CLARE’s gender equality and inclusion (GEI) working group is made up of over 60 gender focal points at 24 projects across CLARE, all of whom are working to champion GEI within their projects. The GEI group takes an intersectional approach to gender equality and inclusion, one that incorporates a range of vulnerabilities (ethnic, age, sexual orientation, etc.) that interact and reinforce one another. This project aims to ensure that GEI principles are embedded in every aspect of CLARE’s work. It will fund opportunities for exchange, influence and cross-project collaboration. This could include, for example, supporting panels at conferences and attendances at GEI-focused events, commissioning a study on intersectional methodologies for climate adaptation, providing funds for GEI accompaniment support such as the development of technical resources, mentorship or action learning processes, and supporting a collaborative writing process.
