Market Linkages for Livelihoods and Land Restoration (M4LLR)
Project disclaimer
Description
Funded by UK government, the Market Linkages for Livelihoods and Land Restoration (M4R) project aims to incentivize smallholder farmers and private sector businesses to invest in land restoration initiatives. M4R will target 60,000 smallholder farmers, restoring 40,000 hectares of land. The project will diversify and increase incomes and food security for at least 80% of targeted smallholder farmers. M4R will target primarily non-timber forest products and non-tree enterprises which benefit from tree integration, such as coffee and cocoa, fruit and nuts, medicinal and aromatic plant extracts, tree nursery enterprises, horticulture, beekeeping and poultry, and crop enterprises with tree integration (eg. Beans, soybeans, groundnuts) value chains. The project is implemented in close coordination with Restore Africa, which links smallholder farmers to the global carbon market by integrating indigenous trees into their land, funded by Climate Asset Management and managed by Global Evergreening Alliance.
