Contribution to improvement in climate predictions of extreme events in the East Asia region for climate mitigation/adaptation decisions.

Objectives

Assess model simulations of European and Chinese regional climate. Identify key model errors in mean and variability through the annual cycle + scope future focus Identify errors in frequency, intensity and spatial patterns for key modes of climate variability and teleconnections to Europe and Asia and scope future focus Assess fidelity and predictability of East Asian summer monsoon rainfall in initialised hindcasts Analysis of hindcast mechanisms and influence by end of FY
