Research for Health in Humanitarian Crises (R2HC) phase 4
Project disclaimer
Description
The UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) funds outstanding global health research through the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). The aim of the Research for Health in Humanitarian Crises (R2HC) programme is to develop more effective responses to humanitarian challenges by providing significant funding for high-quality research on the effectiveness of health interventions in humanitarian crises.
Objectives
The expected impact of the programme is that mortality, morbidity and suffering are reduced in humanitarian crises through demonstrated improvements in humanitarian and public health interventions. The expected outcome is that evidence from R2HC funded research positively influences the public health policies and practices of key humanitarian actors. The programme has four output areas: - Priority research gaps and needs are identified in response to demand from humanitarian health practitioners and policy makers - Collaborative research partnerships are funded to generate research addressing priority health evidence gaps and supported to achieve uptake of findings - Knowledge and learning from the R2HC portfolio of work is synthesised and shared in response to demand from practitioners and policy makers - Key humanitarian stakeholders have access to and are informed of key evidence through strategic engagement and communications
