Description
The UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) funds outstanding global health research through the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). This initiative is administered by Grand Challenges Canada (GCC) and funded in partnership with the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), Fondation Botnar, the Science for Africa Foundation and United for Global Mental Health. The initiative funds research and innovation in 13 priority ODA-eligible countries to influence change in programming, research and policies relating to young people’s mental wellbeing.
Objectives
1. Increase low- and middle-income country (LMIC)-driven research and research capacity to better understand the mental health ecosystem as well as impacts of COVID-19; 2. Implement relational wellbeing approaches within mainstream services for young people ages 10 – 24; 3. Increase mental health service coverage through the use of data and digital technology; 4. Generate transformative change in mental health approaches at the community level guided by young people; and 5. Catalyze adoption of key insights by stakeholders and partners.
