Description
The economic fellowship scheme supports international secondments of a cadre of skilled health economists to low- and middle-income one-health Ministries, such as Health, Agriculture and Environment. The programme is designed to uplift and build the capacity of Fleming Fund partner countries in several core economic competencies that underpin the development of evidence-based policy relevant to addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
The project will aim to build capacity in 1. Economic analysis of relevant data (including AMR and antimicrobial use (AMU) surveillance data); 2. Economic appraisal of policy options, including cost/benefit analyses; 3. Research capacity in the review of regulations, incentives and opportunities that shape AMU; and 4. Gap analysis of public health data to provide a coherent demand side perspective on what data is required (in what format) to support economic analysis and policy development.
Projects funded through the Fleming Fund will benefit people in low- and middle-income countries, where the burden of drug resistant infection is greater
