Description

This funding call supports international research teams working across different disciplines to understand how changes in the climate affect people and the environment. It brings together scientists from natural, medical, and social sciences, as well as communities - especially those in low‑ and middle‑income countries - to create useful, real‑world research. The aim is to better understand how climate change and environmental conditions influence people’s exposure to risks, their behaviour, and their health. The call also encourages teams to develop or link together climate, environmental, and health data, and to work with local partners to build skills and strengthen local leadership. Projects should produce practical information, tools, and evidence that can help governments and organisations make decisions, plan for the long term, and build stronger systems. A key focus is on approaches that look at the whole system, ensuring that groups who are often overlooked - because of income, culture, gender, or minority status - are included and able to shape solutions for climate‑resilient health systems. Overall, the call aims to build a global network of people and organisations working together on climate, environment, and health.

Objectives

The objectives of the call are to: - Build diverse, transdisciplinary research collaborations that bring together climate, environmental, medical, and social sciences with stakeholders, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and underrepresented communities. - Strengthen understanding of linkages among climate, environment, and health. - Improve scalability and predictability of climate‑related health risks through robust databases and early‑warning systems. - Develop usable, decision-support data, tools, and innovative solutions. - Enhance understanding of vulnerability, resilience, and health risk for disproportionately affected groups, including those in LMICs. - Build sustainable, long‑term models for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and workforce development.
