Research on Infrastructure for Developing Economies (RIDE)
Description
RIDE will deliver research on two topics: (1) Sustainable transport for inclusive economic growth; and (2) Mobilising private finance at scale for inclusive, sustainable infrastructure. The two research themes will be linked by a workstream focused on mobilising private finance for sustainable, inclusive transportation, identified as a high priority in consultations for this programme. RIDE will commission both economics and policy research (focused on developing policy recommendations) and applied research, e.g. focused on technological and engineering challenges. The programme directly responds to the British Investment Partnerships pillar of the International Development Strategy (IDS), which seeks to “help countries get the investment they need to grow secure, open, thriving economies” with a focus on “clean, green infrastructure” and on “building on the UK’s financial expertise and the strengths of the City of London”.
