Political System Reform St Helena
Description
This programme will review St Helena's current governance model and develop alternative models with the aim to improve governance and accountability. To achieve reform of the political system, this programme sets out to support two critical elements. 1. An initial assessment of the drivers and enablers of the current political system and lessons learned from previous reform attempts. This will provide the evidence base for an agreed road map to reform with a capping document outlining milestones and timeframe to enable a new model of government. There will also be an assessment of the type of support that will be necessary to facilitate the reform. 2. as guided by the road map the programme will provide technical assistance to progress the reform agenda. This is likely to include experts on public administration reform, constitutional rewriting, and the use of technology to generate more interest in the reform process.
