Tackling waste and plastics pollution
Description
This 3 year programme of up to £13 million is part of wider UK Government efforts to address the problem of marine plastic pollution. This project will provide technical assistance and practical support to a number of poorer Commonwealth countries to improve waste management, to reduce marine plastic pollution. Specifically, the programme will provide:- • Up to £10m to support developing countries who want to work with the UK and others to tackle plastic waste in the oceans under the Commonwealth Clean Oceans Alliance. • Up to £3m to pilot improved waste management approaches in cities in developing Commonwealth countries. The programme will commence in June 2018 and run until May 2021.
