Description

The Growth Gateway (Gateway) is a single access point for UK and African businesses to the UK Government’s offer on trade, finance, and investment. Gateway aims to drive increased two-way trade and investment between the UK and Africa, delivering significant benefits to both the UK and African economies. It will do this by leveraging existing HMG services to business; an accessible digital presence on “GOV.UK”, the UK Government’s centralised website where all government services and information can be found; and the UK’s global network and long-standing bilateral relationships to offer advisory services to businesses and investors that efficiently resolve queries. Moreover, Gateway’s targeted interventions will further open market access and investment opportunities. Gateway will thereby deliver on the UK’s strategic priorities while providing development impact in our partner countries. As a cross-HMG programme, Gateway brings all HMG services and offers on trade, finance, and investment to businesses under one seamless service offering. In addition to the programmes and services being offered by the implementing departments, FCDO and DIT, Gateway is positioned to enhance access to the offers of HMG departments, agencies and entities including British International Investment, UK Export Finance and BEIS. Gateway will also establish linkages to central trade and investment (T&I) services including the Centres of Excellence / UK Expertise and the Build Back Better World (B3W) Toolkit. Through its digital portal on GOV.UK, Gateway will provide a clear entry point for UK and overseas based users of HMG business services. Gateway has a managed inbox that is up and running – business enquiries are serviced through signposting or in-person advisory support as required. Gateway can also work with internal HMG users and external business users to identify and develop proposals for further in-depth support. Digital tools such as an online wizard that will allow quicker triaging of business enquiries and a marketing campaign website will further enhance access to the range of support provided. Growth Gateway is being implemented by a joint public-private sector team from FCDO, DIT, and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG)-led consortium of PA Consulting, Tetra Tech (TT) and Invest Africa.
