Arab Womens Enterprise Fund
Project disclaimer
Description
The Arab Women’s Enterprise Fund will promote more inclusive economic systems supporting poor women’s participation in markets in selected Arab countries. AWEF is a five-year programme working in three countries initially, Egypt, Jordan, and the Occupied Palestinian Territories (the OPTs). The programme is a partnership with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), with both donors contributing £10 million each. It addresses the gaps in women’s economic empowerment in the MENA region, which has one of the lowest rates of female labour force participation in the world. The DAI team includes EFE (Education for Employment), a regional NGO working in all three countries where AWEF will co-locate its offices, and MarketShare Associates.
