Description

This project will work to improve health for disadvantaged people who have limited/no access to quality surgical healthcare in Senegal. This will be achieved through undertaking surgeries (including maxillofacial, reconstructive, ophthalmic, general surgery) and dental procedures to improve immediate health outcomes for patients that are unable to access healthcare services (output 1). Health outcomes in Senegal will also be improved by building the capacity of physicians and nurses through medical capacity building training. Various training will be offered according to the specialism, ranging from essential surgical skills, ultrasound, neonatal resuscitation, biomedical technician training, and full hospital surgical teams; as well as a mentoring scheme (output 2). Finally, the development of learning materials will make recommendations to the Senegalese MoHSA for future investment in healthcare provision (output 3).
