Description

The Newton-Mosharafa Fund is £50 million, a science and innovation partnership between the UK and Egypt that has run since 2014. It aims to advance the capacity of the Egyptian science sector; increase the amount of quality scientific research and innovation and helps mitigate social and economic challenges in Egypt through the development of new research and innovation; and to establish and maintain sustainable, long term and mutual beneficial partnerships between the British and Egyptian science and innovation sectors. The Newton Mosharafa Fund in Egypt consists of the Institutional Links programme which is small scale seed funding on institutional level to build collaborations between institutions in UK and Egypt and the Newton Fund Impact Scheme which is a programme designed to provide previous and current Newton award holders with the opportunity to further impact from their work in a way that strengthens the profile of the Fund and to add tangible value to the investment already made by partner funders and the UK. The Newton Mosharafa PhD programme is designed to support Egyptian researchers to do their PhD at UK Higher Education institutions.
