Description

The DFID funded Building Disaster Resilience Programme in Pakistan (BDRP)‐Community Based Disaster Resilience Management (CBDRM) programme started with the overall intended outcome of “increasing capacity to reduce disaster risk, through better planning, preparedness, response, and resource allocation at the governmental and community levels.” The objective of the CBDRM component of BDRP programme is to assist village communities to mitigate and prepare for disasters through improved early warning systems, risk information, community level response mechanisms, and improved linkages with disaster management authorities. Led by Concern Worldwide, the BDRP‐CBDRM Consortium includes ACTED, International Rescue Committee (IRC), and Welthungerhilfe (WHH). Originally intended as a six year programme, the current contract is planned for two phases including a two year Phase 1 (September 2016 – August 2018) –eight month Inception and sixteen month Implementation – to be followed by a two year Phase 2 (September 2018 – August 2020) scaling of the programme.
