Description
The HALO Trust, Mines Advisory Group (MAG), The Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), and the Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) have formed a partnership as leading global mine action organisations to deliver a comprehensive response to FCDO's requirement for Humanitarian Mine Action activities in Angola, Cambodia, Somalia, and Zimbabwe. The three organisations have decades of experience in delivering relevant activities across the four countries, and draw on the additional expertise of GICHD and other partners for specific inputs towards delivery of the expected outcomes and impact. HALO leads the LOT 1 Consortium approach to implementing the project.
Objectives
This project aims to save lives and increase livelihoods in Angola, Cambodia, Somalia, and Zimbabwe by clearing landmines and other explosive items, responding to EOD callouts, providing risk education, and providing capacity building to local partners.
Target Groups
The target groups for this project are communities suffering from the threat of landmines and other explosive remnants of war in Angola, Cambodia, Somalia, and Zimbabwe. These are women, men, girls, and boys who are at-risk from or whose socio-economic development is hindered by landmines or other explosive remnants of war. The target group for the capacity building are local implementing partners.
