Support to United Nations International Childrens Emergency Fund (UNICEF) to accelerate Sanitation and Water for All in countries currently unlikely to achieve the Millennium Development Goal targets.
Description
To accelerate access to sanitation, hygiene and water for all by providing sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation in up to 12 countries which are currently unlikely to reach the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) targets. This will result in improved access for at least 5 million people to sustainable Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services. This will help achieve progress towards meeting MDG target 7c (to halve by 2015 the proportion of the world’s population without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation) in those countries where progress has been slow and to complement related MDGs in boosting child survival.
