Support to Palestinians at Risk of Displacement in Israeli Controlled Area C of the West Bank and Gaza
Description
This programme invests up to £3.77m (revised budget 2013/16) to help Palestinian farmers in Area C support their families through increased incomes from agricultural production. The programme also helps Palestinians produce spatial plans (also known as master-plans) as a means to engage the Israeli planning system to prevent properties being demolished. The lack of spatial plans is one of the reasons that demolitions are carried out by the Israeli authorities. In July 2015, the programme extended its support from Area C to Gaza, to develop a community-led master plan that will provide the basis for reconstruction and strengthen the Palestinian Authority statebuilding effort in Gaza. In December 2015, UK Ministers agreed to fund the EU managed ‘Access to Essential Social and Public Infrastructure in Area C’ that provides basic infrastructure within the boundaries of master-plans.
