Good Governance Fund (Phase 3) Ukraine: Supporting Governance and Economic Reform

The Good Governance Fund seeks to tackle corruption, improve the business environment, make governments more responsive to citizens, enhance civil society freedoms, and promote overall reform.
Western Balkans – Freedom and Resilience Programme

This programme will address long-term, structural issues across the region, including ethno-nationalist division, and support transparency and accountability in government, as well as underlying society challenges such as discrimination and violence against women and girls. The Programme will comprise a portfolio of interventions in three areas: reconciliation and peacebuilding in conflict-affected communities; empowering women and girls and tackling Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) and gender-based violence; and strengthening government capacity, transparency and accountability. Programming will be country-led, with Posts able to bid for funds in support of projects in line with their priorities.
Global Security Rapid Analysis

Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRiNG)

SPRiNG is to support a more stable and peaceful Nigeria in which citizens benefit from reduced violence, and increased resilience to the pressures of climate change (Impact). It will do this by supporting, and shifting incentives of, Nigerian stakeholders so they are more willing and able to respond to conflict, security, justice and natural resource management challenges in target areas (Outcome). SPRiNG is 15-20% International Climate Finance (ICF) eligible.
Building sustainable anti-corruption action in Tanzania (BSAAT)

To reduce the role of corruption as a barrier to poverty reduction in Tanzania by improving the capacity and coordination of the criminal justice system in corruption cases, improving integrity and governance in the private sector, and influencing social change through research and media.
Child-Friendly Justice

To deliver technical capacity training to legal and judicial professionals, social workers and healthcare professionals on child-friendly methods of handling children’s cases in the justice system and develop Standard Operating Procedures to guide implementation and operationalisation of children’s courts

International Growth Centre - Phase 3

The IGC will help developing countries implement effective inclusive growth policies, in order to lift their citizens out of poverty. The programme will provide rigorous, policy-relevant research; and independent, demand-led policy advice directly to country governments on key priority areas identified in DFID’s 2017 Economic Development Strategy: economic governance; trade and productivity; cities and infrastructure; and energy.
Security and Justice Programme 2

Security and Justice Programme (SJP) ultimately aims to help to enhance public safety in Nepal and improve people’s trust in a key institution: the police. It will contribute to increased responsiveness of security and justice providers, particularly gender-based violence (GBV) and increased prevention of GBV and wider public safety problems. Understanding and influencing different social and organisational norms will run through the whole programme to address the prevalence of violence against women and girls. The programme also has a particular focus on the organisational development of the Nepal Police, investigation capability, problem-solving community policing and better climate-resilient solar-powered infrastructure for service delivery, notably police women and children service centres (WCSCs).
Ghana Governance Programme (GGP)

GGP will strengthen UK’s established leadership as a key supporter of governance and convenor of anti-corruption Development Partners (DPs) in Ghana, driving coherence across the international community. The programme will leverage on strong relationships with key institutions including the Electoral Commission, Judiciary, Parliament, Security Agencies, Ministries, Departments and Agencies and CSOs. It will also support activities that enhance the credibility of the processes and outcome of the 2024 and 2028 elections and improve Ghana’s democratic outcomes through targeted structural reforms.
Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative (PSVI) Programme

This programme covers activity seeks to promote justice for survivors of sexual violence in conflict, to support them to recovery, including with health, education and financial support. The programme includes activity to strengthen global responses to sexual violence in conflict, for example through the production and promotion of a guidebook outlining government's obligations on this issue under international law.
Open Society Enabling Fund (OSEF)

The Open Societies Enabling Fund is aimed at supporting and bolstering active contributions of civil society groups in defending Indonesia’s open society with the particular context of 2024 national and local elections amidst the trend of shrinking civic space, increased prosecution of human rights defenders, and further entrenchment of minority rights.
Partnerships for Development

Partnerships for Development (formerly known as GREAT for Partnership) will multiply the UK’s development impact by boosting partnerships between UK’s institutions and their counterparts in the developing world. It will leverage the skills and expertise from a range of UK institutions and supply them initially to DFID partner countries, based on tailored demand. It will initially prioritise the Extractives, Financial Accountability and Anti-Corruption sectors.
Strengthening Foundations of Federalism in Nepal

In addition, the programme through other components like Coherence supports local elected leaders, local government associations, and provincial and federal government to promote inclusive decision-making processes and capacity of local governments (input code: 15150- democratic participation and civil society). A modest pilot is also being implemented to test if issues-based approach to development problem solving will promote state-citizen engagement and improve development outcomes especially those contributing to a meaningful inclusion of women and marginalised groups. Both coherence and the pilot will be grounded in evidence and regular political economy analysis (isc: 43082, 15170 - governance research; women's equality organizations and institutions)
