'Pakistan National Cash Transfers Programme'

Saving Lives in Sierra Leone 2016

To save women and children’s lives by improving the quality, availability and accessibility of (reproductive, maternal, new born and child health (RMNCH) services. Phase 1 of this programme will focus on increasing access to preventive services (including family planning, water, sanitation and long lasting insecticide treated bednets) and improving service quality in line with the maternal and child health priorities of the President’s 10-24 Month Recovery Plan. The second phase will embed and build on the gains of the first phase and will increase equitable access to the improved RMNH services, whilst strengthening priority health systems for more sustainable service delivery.

Girls' Education in South Sudan Phase II

Leh Wi Learn - Sierra Leone Secondary Education Improvement Programme

To improve English and mathematics learning achievement in all secondary schools , especially for girls. The programme has the following components: making schools safe for girls, improving learning conditions in schools for boys and girls, strengthening central and district capacity, and improving monitoring and evaluation. In the first two years, the project will be fully aligned with Sierra Leone’s President’s Recovery Priorities. Over the five years, the impact will be measured by improvements in the West Africa regional secondary school examinations taken after three years (the basic certificate) and after six years (the senior certificate). An additional 14,000[1] girls and boys are expected to pass English and Maths at senior level, with a narrowing of the performance gap between boys and girls. The outcome of the programme will establish an enabling environment for secondary school students, especially girls, to be safe, learn and achieve.

Strengthening Education Systems for Improved Learning

Climate Smart Development for Nepal

It will provide strategic support to the Govt of Nepal to design and implement CC policies, to integrate resilience throughout government planning. This will:Improve resilience of 700,000 poor & vulnerable people (especially women) to floods, landslides, droughts in most remote districts;Improve resilience of businesses in 5 growing urban centres & 3 river basins through investments in urban planning, large scale irrigation systems & flood management;Facilitate connection of over 25,000 households to new micro-hydro power installations; connect over 70,000 homes to solar power & install RET in more than 200 schools/health clinics;Develop industry standard for ‘clean’ brick production and enable over half of the brick kilns (at least 400) to adopt more efficient technologies;Improve design of future CC programming & beyond through generation of world class evidence

Jointly funded and managed by UKAID and USAID, ACCELERE! is the name of our joint flagship education programme in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). By working together, we can support more children to access high quality education and have a shared policy voice with more influence. ACCELERE! supports the Government of DRC better to deliver universal primary education through increased access to education, and by improving learning outcomes for girls and boys. The project aims to reduce barriers to primary education by providing access to alternative/accelerated learning programmes. It will also improve the quality of primary education through teacher training and the provision of new learning/teaching materials. To build sustainable sector improvements for the long term, ACCELERE! supports better governance of the education sector at all levels. ACCELERE! targets eight provinces across DRC including those which are affected by conflict and displacement.
