Description

Institutional Support Grants to the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) to cover Official Development Assistance (ODA) activities under the International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF). This funding provides flexible institutional grants that can be used strategically to support ODA eligible activity. This may include underpinning ISPF activity funded through other delivery partners, or by directly supporting research that addresses the problems faced by developing countries that are not funded through the ISPF grants of other delivery partners. ISPF Institutional Support Grants have been awarded to the University of St Andrews, University of Glasgow, University of Edinburgh, Robert Gordon University, University of Stirling, University of Dundee, Scotland's Rural College, Edinburgh Napier University, University of Aberdeen, Abertay University, University of Strathclyde, Heriot-Watt University and Glasgow Caledonian University.

Objectives

The Grant must only be used to fund activities that are ODA compliant as defined by the OECD . To be ODA compliant, all funded activity must have the promotion of the economic development and welfare of developing countries on the OECD’s Development Assistance Committee (DAC) list as its main objective; and be concessional in character. Funded activities should focus on the challenges specific to the partner country/countries and not broader global issues, meaning those that are transboundary beyond low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
