Unitaid - market shaping for equitable access to diagnostics and therapeutics for infectious diseases.
Description
Unitaid is a high-performing global health initiative which drives faster and better access to new medicines, diagnostics and preventive technologies for people affected by COVID-19, HIV/AIDS and HIV co-infections, TB and malaria in lower- and middle-income countries. By bridging the gap between upstream product innovation and country-level delivery, Unitaid offers a mechanism to bring promising health innovations to scale. Since 2006, Unitaid has collaborated with the UK government to accelerate access to innovation, tackling the most pressing global health challenges in the 'big three' diseases (HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria), and in areas beyond, including fever management, cervical cancer and access to oxygen. The launched Strategy for 2023-2027 leverages Unitaid’s distinctive comparative advantage — as a pathfinder, investor, and influencer — and will maximize the impact of their interventions.
