Support to Social Protection Programme 2 (SSPP2)

To support the Government of Mozambique to develop a bigger, better and more shock responsive social protection system. SSPP2 will help poor and vulnerable people meet their basic needs and cope better with crises through social protection. It will expand the Government of Mozambique’s social protection programmes to deliver more cash transfers to the most vulnerable. It will provide technical assistance to improve social protection programme delivery and value for money, making government programmes more efficient, effective and equitable. It will develop government capacity to respond to crises quickly and effectively through the national social protection system. The programme will leverage additional donor and government resources of about £70m per year. Ultimately, SSPP2 will support the creation of a sustainable, nationally owned system to redistribute revenues from gas that Mozambique is expected to start earning in the next decade.
Citizen Engagement and Democracy Support Programme

Disability Capacity Building Programme

Trade Strategy Programme

To support developing countries use trade to achieve economic growth and poverty reduction. The programme will provide analytical, evidence-based research, and trade diagnostics tools and databases. The programme activities aim to build the trade capacity in 72 developing countries to better integrate into the global trading system in order to enhance their economic development. The research and knowledge will support developing countries to gain access to global markets as well as inform policy making decisions contributing to achieving poverty reduction, integral to DFID’s Economic Development Strategy. The programme will also provide financial and technical support to develop sustainable trade strategies that will have a positive impact on poor people’s lives through the promotion of private sector development and job opportunities.
Somalia Stability Fund III

Somalia Stability Fund III will work to build stability in Somalia. It will do so by deepening understanding of the core underlying causes and drivers of conflict and instability. It will address them in ways that help widen and deepen the political settlement (agreements between different political actors), at multiple levels, and help build resilience to conflict and violence when these political settlement processes inevitably come under stress.

African Union Conflict and Governance Support Programme (AUCG)

AUCG will work to strengthen the conflict prevention, conflict management and governance capabilities of the African Union (AU). In doing so, it will help tackle emerging threats to the UK and Africa earlier and before they result in violent conflict. Emphasis will be put on strengthening the AU’s early warning, analysis and early response capacity and capability, including the AU’s ability to effectively mediate in situations before or during conflict. AUCG will also support the AU’s ability to effectively monitor elections across the African continent, helping to promote open societies and create a more democratic world, and will increase women’s meaningful participation in political and peace processes.
