To safeguard educational gains made over the last decade. During this current period of economic instability and beyond, TEACH will sustain improvements made to learning outcomes and will target the poorest and most disadvantaged learners, including those with a disability. It will build on the learning from the previous United Kingdom (UK) support through the Education Development Fund but shifts focus to where it matters most by: • targeting the poorest schools so that they remain functional and can meet basic operational needs. • Testing and adapting evidence-based approaches to improve teacher effectiveness in the classroom, contributing to wider reforms of the national education system. • Supporting the Zimbabwean Government to end violence in schools by developing a comprehensive approach to safeguarding and positive discipline • Strengthening effective education systems so that they are more inclusive • Supporting improving financing of education
Comic Relief Red Nose Day 2015 - Improving educational opportunities for children in sub-Saharan Africa

Myanmar UK Partnership for Education

MUPE is to improve the reach and quality of education services in Burma and help prepare Burma’s youth with the skills they need for life after school. MUPE has gone through 3 significant changes: 1) ODA reductions in 2019/20 2) Covid19 pandemic in 2020 and 3) military coup in Myanmar in 2021. Due to those significant changes, the programme was reshaped with only two components remaining (with one not having financial contribution) at the closure. The funded component which lasted till the closure of MUPE was MEC (Myanmar Education Consortium), which was maintained due to its relevance to the changed context and the ability to respond to challenging context.
Support to Ethiopia General Education Quality Improvement Programme for Equity (GEQIP-E)

This program aims to effectively contribute to the creation of human capital - vital to drive Ethiopia’s industrialization process and realize inclusive growth. It will work to transform education system performance, producing better school leadership, more educated school leavers, especially disadvantaged girls and children from poor communities. DFID’s support is expected to contribute for the result in improved learning outcomes for around 1,035 Million students; half of whom are girls; increased number going to secondary schools.The focuse is on reducing inequalities in education participation and achievement through pre-primary expansion, better education for girls, refugees and up to 24,000 students with special needs.
Shule Bora - Quality Education

A national education programme to improve the quality of pre-primary and primary schools in Tanzania. The programme will improve learning outcomes for all children, improve transition rates to secondary school for girls, reduce physical and sexual violence in and around schools, and help children with disabilities access quality education. The programme will work with the Government of Tanzania on achieving these outcomes through a payment-by-results mechanism, supported by technical assistance. The programme will also directly deliver innovative approaches to improving education quality in 9 regions of Tanzania through a contracted Managing Agent, alongside ongoing evaluation and learning.
"Girls and Out of School Children: Action for Learning (GOAL)".

India Challenge Enabling Fund (ICE)

It will aim to co-design interventions with Indian and UK institutions – government, civil society, think tanks – on specific questions/areas that will inform state/central policies, unlock resources, and promote sustainable and inclusive outcomes.
Digital Access Programme

The Prosperity Fund cross-HMG 'Digital Access Programme' is a FCDO-led partnership with DCMS. It aims to catalyse more inclusive, affordable, safe and secure digital access for excluded and underserved communities in Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Brazil and Indonesia. Increased digital inclusion in the programme countries will form the basis for more thriving digital ecosystems that generate high-skilled jobs, opportunities for local digital entrepreneurship focused on country-specific development challenges, as well as potential partnerships with international and UK business aimed at mutual prosperity. The Digital Access programme will also focus on learning about sustainable models and enablers for digital inclusion. The learnings will be shared with key stakeholders and other partner countries, thereby amplifying the impact of the programme.
Mozambique Demographic Transition - Waala - Programme

To contribute to a more favourable enabling environment for the demographic transition in Mozambique, through coordinated action with others. The FCDO will use programming, evidence and diplomacy to influence decision-makers to increase investments towards cost-effective interventions that will accelerate changes in the population structure. These interventions will help young people to fulfil their potential by preventing unintended pregnancies and improving the literacy and numeracy skills among girls. The Government’s systems will be strengthened to include population issues in planning and budgeting. Over 130,000 unintended pregnancies will be averted resulting in 427,000 users of modern contraceptives. These investments should help to offset deteriorating human capital outcomes because of COVID-19.
Young Lives At Work, improved understanding of the effect of educational opportunities on labour market outcomes

This globally respected research programme provides high impact open access and gender dissagregated data on educational access and outcomes, skills and transition to labour markets. Data over 15 years allows us to follow the paths of 12,000 children from early years through adolescence and into early adulthood, gaining valuable insights on educational trajectories and access to higher education and labour market entry.
Skills for Employment Programme

This programme will provide young Nepalis with the opportunities to improve their employability, productivity and decision-making. It will continue and expand DFID’s ambition on skills training in Nepal, by providing skills training to at least 100,000 poor and disadvantaged young Nepalis - especially women- so that they can access better jobs and higher incomes. In response to the April 2015 earthquake, one component will focus DFID resources on providing skills to Nepalis in earthquake-resistant housing construction to help with the enormous reconstruction needs in earthquake-affected districts.
Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL)

The programme works with government and civil society at federal and state levels to reduce inefficiency and corruption in the use of Nigerian resources and therefore improve delivery of services, including for women, girls and persons with disability. It does this in partnership with other DFID programmes supporting service delivery by helping Nigerian stakeholders improve accountability for use of resources including improving processes for raising revenue, allocating resources, planning and programme implementation.
T-WASH II - Transforming Access to WASH and Nutrition Services in Mozambique

To deliver sustainable, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and nutrition services to the poor in Mozambique. The programme will focus in areas of high child malnutrition, and address the specific needs of women and adolescent girls. It will build on the success of the current WASH programme, using performance indicators to drive the sustainability and equity of government and private sector service delivery at sub-national level. The programme will use evidence to influence policies and strategies that will lead to better health and nutritional outcomes for the poor. The programme will also build human capital for longer term economic development.
Strengthening Climate Resilient Systems for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Services in Ethiopia (SCRS - WASH)

Improve access to climate-resilient water and improved sanitation services and good hygiene practices for 1.2m people in the prioritised drought-affected and drought-prone areas of Ethiopia. The proposed Strengthening Climate Resilient Systems for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Services in Ethiopia (SCRS-WaSH) programme will contribute to the Government of Ethiopia's Climate Resilient WaSH provision to drought-prone areas. the programme aims to realise this through a combination of targeted Financial Aid and Technical Assistance support. The FA will focus primarily on improving climate-resilient WaSH facilities which ensure year-round access to resilient WaSH services at household, community and institution levels in the targeted intervention areas. This will be complemented with TA support that focuses on strengthening the WaSH delivery systems.
Accelerating Action to End Child Marriage Programme Phase 2

This will be the UK’s second global, multi-sectoral programme to tackle child marriage and respond to its consequences. This programme will provide £18 million to deliver interventions across high prevalence countries, including fragile and conflict affected states, to prevent child marriages, lower global prevalence rates and support already married girls to have improved life outcomes. The programme will enable girls to take greater control over their lives and bodies. It will contribute to increased access to education for girls, reduced adolescent pregnancy and maternal deaths and a range of broader development outcomes. In addition, the programme will strengthen the international evidence base on what works to prevent child marriage and increase use of this evidence by a range of actors. This will in turn increase the effectiveness and efficiency of wider interventions aiming to end child marriage.
Building Resilience and an Effective Emergency Refugee Response (BRAER)

The programme will provide emergency life-saving assistance to the large influxes of refugees arriving in Uganda, build resilience among refugees and their host communities to reduce Uganda’s humanitarian burden, and deliver on UK Humanitarian Reform priorities. It will support the UK in its leadership role to develop new approaches to protracted crises and in delivering on the New York Declaration’s Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework, with regional and global impact.
Partnership for Learning for All in Nigerian Education - PLANE

PLANE programme will support achievement of the UK Aid Strategy’s strategic objectives, particularly in relation to tackling extreme poverty and helping the world’s most vulnerable. The programme will also work to strengthen resilience and response to crises, support prosperity in Nigeria and strengthen governance in the education sector. The Programme will benefit up to 2 million children by supporting the Government of Nigeria (GoN) in selected states and non-state partners to improve teaching, school quality, education management and efficient delivery of education. This brings together a short term focus on improving the life chances of Nigeria’s most vulnerable children with medium term goals to support recovery and stability and longer term development goals to improve the overall education system
Building Resilience, Inclusion and Diversity through Girls’ Education (BRIDGE)

Through a three-year programme, BRIDGE will champion the UK’s commitment for every girl to receive 12 years of quality education, squarely responding to the FCDO’s priorities on Women and Girls. This programme will provide access to quality education for marginalised children, especially girls, and will support learning recovery for 1.6 million host community and refugee children impacted by almost two years of continuous school closures (due to COVID-19). BRIDGE will ensure inclusion is mainstreamed in Jordan’s education system through: supporting access to education; improving quality of education; building societal and economic resilience; and maximising existing UK contributions.
