Description

Contribution to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) to increase public and political awareness of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and support countries with AMR National Action Plans.

The objectives of the Fleming Fund grant with FAO are to: 1. support development and implementation of AMR National Action Plans in 12 low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in sub-Saharan Africa and South and South-east Asia; 2. strengthen regulatory frameworks; 3. increase societal awareness and understanding of AMR; 4. develop good practices in food and agriculture sectors, and ensure these are able to be implemented in target countries; and 5. strengthen the coordination across WHO, FAO and OIE in supporting the One Health agenda globally, and more specifically in LMICs.

Projects funded through Fleming Fund will benefit people in low- and middle-income countries, where the burden of drug resistant infection is greater.
