Description

Poor young people in Myanmar face multiple barriers to economic resilience and participation in their new democracy. This project aims to build the knowledge, skills, assets and networks of vulnerable young people in Lashio, Maubin, Monywa and Taunggyi, enabling them to achieve sustainable livelihoods, be resilient against shocks and become active citizens. A two-pronged approach, combining individual training and post-training support with activities to promote an enabling environment, will enable young pepole to gain jobs through enterprise and participate actively in communities. The project includes tailored approaches and additional support to reach particularly marginalised young women (70%), indigenous groups and people with disabilities.

Objectives

Main objective: Poverty reduction in Myanmar, promotion of inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all in Myanmar. Specific objectives: 1. Increased economic security and social empowerment for marginalized young women and men and community members. 2. Vulnerable young women and men have the skills to enhance their enterprise and employment opportunities. 3. Vulnerable young women and men have access to assets, markets and network s to develop their enterprise and employment opportunities.
