Integrated Programme for Strengthening Security and Justice - Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Component

To increase security and access to justice by providing skills, facilities, equipment and systems for better crime prevention and response. This will benefit at least 1.5 million people in Nepal and, in particular, will change the ways that police and other agencies engage with poor and traditionally marginalised people . Greater security and access to justice are foundations for progress on all of MDGs (Millennium Development Goals), giving people confidence that they will be better protected from crime and abuses of power. DFID will provide support over five years until 2018.

Nepal - Economic Policy Incubator Project

Humanitarian Emergency Response Operations and Stabilisation

CSSF: Strengthening the Rule of Law in Jordan

The Strengthening the Rule of Law in Jordan Programme exists in support of the UK’s 10-year partnership with Jordan, aimed at building Jordan’s resilience to economic and political shocks while maintaining a strong bedrock of stability and security. The Programme’s primary activity is to provide technical support to reinforce key democratic and legal principles necessary for a trustworthy and independent judiciary. It will do so by supporting the implementation of the Royal Court Commission legal reform recommendations and the GoJ judicial sector strategy. The ultimate impact objective of the Programme is an improved Jordanian legal system and administration of justice through the implementation of the Royal Commission recommendations, with enhanced private sector investment and competitiveness.

Support to the Facilitation of Forest Governance Reforms in Guyana, Liberia, Ghana, Republic of Congo and Cameroon (FLEGT)

The objective of this contract is to establish and operate a Facilitation service that helps sustain and support national stakeholders so that they input and inform forest sector governance reforms as framed by the Voluntary Partnership Agreements in Ghana, Liberia, Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Guyana, and Gabon. Facilitation support will improve the quality of national deliberation, encouraging inclusion of different stakeholder interests, helping clarify misunderstandings and promoting lesson learning and thereby helping to establish a strong foundation for lasting transformation in the ways forests are governed and managed. This will help build local ownership for VPA results in each country where the Facilitators are deployed. The Facilitation Service will contribute to FGMC programme-wide monitoring and lesson learning and assist in the coordination of FGMC action at the country level to improve programme effectiveness.

Liberia Multi-stakeholder Forest Governance & Accountability Programme

MFGAP will work with national stakeholders in Liberia to ensure accountability and oversight of Liberia’s EU Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) process. Through a technical assistance facility based in Monrovia, our team and consortium partners will work in coordination across four outputs to build new levels of accountability into the Liberian VPA process: EMEA PC01 SOP01 TL02 Subcontract EMEA 2018 23 / 38 1. Ensuring that government services and agencies hold the Forest Development Authority to account on the regulation of forest production as enshrined in the VPA 2. Increase the capacity and engagement of civil society and community actors to monitor the forest sector and hold the government to account 3. Support independent media to hold government, civil society, communities and the private sector to account on the implementation of sector reforms framed by the VPA 4. Engage the private sector in policy development processes to address underlying causes of illegal and unsustainable practices and support compliance with national regulations

Public-Private Partnership Project for Small Scale, Youth-Led Sanitation Business Development

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES

CRS pilots an innovative a small-scale sanitation business development approach to catalyze demand, uptake, and sustainability of improved sanitation facilities, in three districts of Mbeya Region. A public/private partnership between local government authorities, private sector partners, international and local NGOs will train Youth Entrepreneurs to run sanitation businesses, construct appropriate improved latrines using human centered design (HCD) and Smartphone technology to market sanitation products to poor Households (HHs) triggered through CLTS.

Social Cohesion in Liberia

To support Government and civil society to promote social cohesion, reduce vulnerability and prevent conflict by supporting a basic national safety net system that will provide monthly cash transfers to at least 15,000 extremely poor and food insecure households in four regions through a World Bank Trust Fund; and supporting the inclusion of women. Cash transfers will be made to women and the poorest and most vulnerable populations as well as climate change and the environment will be cross-cutting themes.

Mobilising Institutional Capital Through Listed Product Structures

FCDO seeks to support the development of new products that have the ambition to list on major and local exchanges, and by doing so, engage new sources of investment and new investors, to help bridge the SDG financing gap, estimated by the UN to total $2.5 trillion p.a. ODA flows alone will not meet the needs of developing countries, and new sources of private investment will be essential if the SDGs are to be met by 2030. Zimbabwe Humanitarian and Resilience Programme (ZHARP) 2019-24

Tackling Illicit Finance Globally TIFiG

Illicit financial flows IFFs cross multiple borders and are inherently secret. There is therefore currently limited understanding of illicit flows globally or how to tackle them. Yet illicit finance is an issue of rapidly increasing interest and concern to the UK. This two year programme of up to £4.5 million initiates delivery of DFID’s new ambition on illicit finance by building the understanding of the harm IFFs cause to poor people in developing countries, the nature, drivers and interconnectedness of these flows; and our ability to tackle them effectively. It includes delivery of the National Security Adviser’s commitment for DFID to provide £2m in FY 2019 2020 to the National Economic Crime Centre NECC.
