Description

The Burma-UK Partnership for Education (BUPE) is a 5 year DFID programme that aims to support more relevant learning for all Myanmar’s children, equipping them for life after school. The programme will support Government of Burma, Ministry of Education and local/ethnic authorities and other non-state actors to make the education system in Burma more accessible, better in quality and more inclusive. The aims of the Evaluation, Evidence and Learning component (EELC), Component 5 of BUPE, are to provide a robust evaluation of the delivery components of BUPE and to generate evidence and learning to inform component delivery and associated policy implementation. This will contribute to support BUPE components and BUPE’s expected impact of supporting more relevant learning for all Myanmar’s children to equip them for life after school. It is also expected that BUPE-EELC will support achievement of Myanmar’s National Education Strategic Plan’s (NESP)2 transformational shift on management, capacity development and quality assurance, and contribute evidence on the achievement of the NESP’s impact goal and other transformational shifts.

Objectives

BUPE-EELC expected outcomes include: i.To produce high quality evaluation and research that can demonstrate BUPE’s results; ii.To build the evidence-base to inform lesson learning and decision-making on programme delivery, through delivery of relevant research and evaluation within the main BUPE programme; iii.To develop the capacity of researchers to generate evidence, and policy-makers and implementing partners to use evidence to inform delivery of education reforms
